FDA developed a webpage to support efforts around WFSD, which provides information and learning material for consumers related to food safety, such as steps to avoid foodborne illnesses, the role of FDA in Food Safety and protection of consumers, and different ways in which people can participate in observing this day.
The STDF 2018 Annual Report was published on 7 June 2019, the first World Food Safety Day. In line with the day’s “Food Safety, Everyone’s Business” theme, the Report sets out how small-scale farmers, processors, traders and governments in developing countries are being supported to meet international standards on food safety, animal and plant health. The Report shows how investments in safe trade play an important role in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The World Bank Group is among the five founding partners of the STDF, with the FAO, OIE, WHO and WTO.
Codex Alimentarius, the “precursor” or Food Safety Day following an initiative of Costa Rica in its annual Commission Meeting, has launched a dedicated World Food Safety Day webpage with information regarding the day, its background, the 2019 theme and related news. The webpage also has available for download a complete guide on World Food Safety Day, that puts together the information in the webpage along with key messages and facts and figures.
