Objectives: Identify gaps in food safety curricula and establish and harmonize core competencies and develop curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels in order to improve food safety and security worldwide.
Status: Significant Progress has been made in realizing these goals: distribution and analysis of global surveys the current status of food safety education; establishment of a GFSCI Steering Committee; targeting by the Steering Committee of foundational core curricula subjects; establishment of a Working Group of experts for each subject; subject curricula development through collaboration of Working Group members; submission of subject curricula summaries for discussion at regional levels.
